Belmont Massachusetts Real Estate

While Boston is a thriving economic center with professionals and businesses of all types, Belmont is known as “The Town of Homes,” meaning this is where residents come together to create a peaceful, family and community focused center.  It is nestled on the border of Cambridge and is a short 8 miles from Downtown Boston, yet is separated enough to provide its residents with a unique experience.

Belmont keeps its residents from becoming strangers by hosting an annual community information fair at the local middle school.  This meeting provides a forum to learn and ask about various town procedures as well as sign up for clubs and sports in which residents may be interested.  Additionally, they make community support easy by accepting food donations for the underprivileged in the area.

It is no wonder that Belmont aims to create a strong community feel.  The town began as a purely agricultural community of 40 families.  As the population grew, the town had to unite to get a railroad to pass nearby, transforming this farming area into a center of business and education.  However, the residents never forgot their agricultural past, banding together to create farm fruits and market gardens.

Today, you could just as easily find an author, physician, or artist as anything else in the town.  The community is composed primarily of professionals who are looking for a true community with city center access.  The vast majority of the buildings in the area are Belmont homes, making this one large neighborhood of just over 25,000 residents.

A substantial portion of the population is composed of families, though there are certainly a number of Belmont condos and other areas that are perfect for those who prefer living on their own.  The strong family bond is reflected in the exceptional schools.  Additionally, the homes seem designed with large families in mind.  The extra square footage may be due to the fact that many of the homes are traditionally constructed, with nearly half of Belmont homes built in the 1920’s or 1930’s.

For home buyers seeking a location that emphasizes community values, traditional architecture, and relatively short commute times, Belmont properties are spectacular.  Talk to a CENTURY 21 Commonwealth agent to start touring some of the incredible homes available.
